Machinist

Smith & Sons is a full-service machine shop servicing the greater Boston area for more than 90 years. With continued success we are currently hiring a full-time machinist. We are looking for a self- motived professional who possess outstanding work habits and has a strong machining background preferably related to machine repair.

Essential Skills

• Strong attention to detail
• Good math, written and verbal skills
• Ability to function as a team player
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Thorough knowledge of a manufacturing environment
• Ability to perform various tasks requiring manual dexterity and lifting abilities
• 3 years of machining experience
• Must be proficient in all types of general machining.

Maintains work area in a neat and orderly condition. Works safely and complies with all established safety rules and work practices. Understands written directions & procedures. Self-motivated and willingness to learn.

Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk, stand and handle tools. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain timely production schedules to ensure quality goals are met
• Work closely with Shop Manager to track materials purchased and hours worked in customer database
• Assist with customers and vendors deliveries
• Follow workflow details and scheduling of jobs with management
